Proud to Be: Norvy's Story
“I want others to know that even if so many people disapprove your way of being, it’s going to be ok. And that you are beautiful just the way you are.”
I feel stronger today, after living so many things that have transformed my life and mindset. Today, I can say that I am not afraid of talking about my sexuality and atypical male physique. After years of low self-esteem and self-criticism, I have finally moved on to a better stage in my life.
I am proud of myself for fighting for my happiness and for what is right. I would often let others give their opinions and decide for me, which left me unhappy.
My experiences and my identity have all led me to be the strong person that I am. Fighting the prejudices, religion matters, family ideals, and many other situations to find my true authentic self.
The one person that supported me throughout my process of accepting and coming out is my friend Ilusion. She always told me that being different was OK. Our friendship grew quickly. I felt understood for the very first time. We had long walks and talks.
I want others to know that even if so many people disapprove your way of being, it's going to be ok. And that you are beautiful just the way you are. Listen to your gut and follow through.
Thank you, Norvy, for your courage and for trusting us with your story. It is an honor to archive it.
